In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

The key ingerdiences for a student magazine are that the front cover needs to have a title and picture or photographs. The photograph in the magazine is in place to illustrate what the magazine contains.  For a magazine to work you also need the price, so that the person buying the magazine knows how much the magazine is going to cost.  The front cover for student magazines has to include a clear title for the magazine and a photograph.  It needs to have the price of the magazine and it also needs to have the issue number. The front cover also can have cover lines. A content page will generally have a heading saying the contents page. It will have page references; this is so that the person reading the magazine knows what is on each page. The contents page can also illustrate page refences by using photographs. Yes, I have tried to include all things that magazines front covers have and the same for the content page.  However with my magazine I have tried to make the front cover and contents page very unique to me.  A front cover will generally has one main front cover picture, but with my magazines the front cover I has two front cover main photographs. No, I don’t think I have pushed the boundaries of this form.

 How does your media product represent particular social groups?

The social group that I have represented in my student magazine are the students of today and teenagers.   The reason why I decided to do students and teenagers was from the feed back I got from the audience. The audience told me that for a teenager and student magazine they would like to see information about student life. However they would also like to read about some celebrity gossip. I have represented the students of today by Included a main photographs of student doing their work.  I have represented the teenager’s because I have included teenagers in my title for the   magazine. The title for my magazine was choosing from the audience feed back. Also when taking the photographs for my magazine I tried to get the photographs to betray the stereotypical look for the teenagers.   The first image for my front cover I got the students to look up from their work they were doing. One of the students was writing, where as the other student was reading the work. The lighting for this photograph was done near the window because I wanted the light for my photograph to be natural.  I did the same for my second photo on my front cover. However for my second photograph I took picture of a girl looking up from her work.   My photographs on my content s page were taken with the girl looking down at her work. I did this because I wanted to create the idea that the girl was working. The background lighting for these photographs was the lighting used in the room. The photographs for my front cover were approved by the audience and from audience feed back they liked the way I had put the two photographs as the background. The photos from my contents page were approved by the audience because I showed them the photographs before I posted the contents page. The language I used for my magazine was simple language because I wanted to make sure people would be able to understand the information that is put on magazine.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

The magazines that are like my of those that already out is student ID is like my magazine. (Print screen of the magazine at the top of the page.) However I do think that there is gap in the market for student magazines, especial a gap in student life at college or universities. The audience feed back told me that students would be really interested about hearing how life is for university students as they will be going to university in a few years time. The magazines that we see in the shops are about celebrities’ life, what’s on TV and real people’s life stories. Any company would want to distribute my magazine because it would bring an interested look for people who would like to read magazines about student’s life. Also the company would want to distributed my student magazine because I feel that my front cover will not only appeal to young students, but I feel it will also appeal to a much wider audience as well. My magazine offers students to look at what life is like and it also might help the students with what their potential job will include and if the job is right for them. Students are nerves about their career choices and I feel that a magazine telling them about what will their job is like, will really help them. The college that I go to has distributed the magazine, even though the college already has a student magazine. The cover lines I used for my student magazine are Student Life. I used the cover line of student life because my magazine is on the student life.
Who would be the audience for your media product?

The age range for my student magazine is 16 to 18 because that age range general is looking for a career and what to know what student life is like.  I got the age range from the feed back I got because most people said they wanted age between 16 and 18. But one person said they wanted 13 to 16. So I decided to go with the most votes. The gender of my student magazine is female because the female population is interested in knowing celebrity gossip and what life is like to be a student.  Celebrity gossip is one of the main things my audience want to read about as well as reading about student life. Also the female population would be interested to know the revision tips.

How did you attract/address your audience?

To attract my target audience are used bright colours. My front cover was the most important thing I need to do because the front cover will be the first part of the magazine that my target audience sees. For my front cover I decided the way to attract my target audience was to have a catch title. The title needs to bring the audience in, also the title needs to bold. The title is the first part of the magazine that attracts the eye, so it needs to be good. I decided that my target audience needs to be able to relate to the photographs that are on my front cover. With my front cover I took photographs of students doing work, this way I thought it would attracted more people from my target audience. People would want to buy magazine because people are always interested in finding out what other students feel about the same career they are doing. 
People will be able to see that student life isn’t so bad.  Also it will help students in the period of life when they are getting lots of exams because the magazine contains some revision tips.


What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

The technologies I have used to construct my product are word, publisher, digital camera and editing my photos. I have learnt that it will take time to construct a magazine’s front cover and contents page.  I have also learnt how to use a blog my to the best of my potential. I have also   learnt how to move the objects around the screen to get the best potent ional out of the content s and the front cover.

improved front covers



I have improved my front covers drafts  on another post. These front covers  are my first ones  I made. These front cover drafts I made before  I took the photographs.  I used bright colours for the background of the front covers. The headings I put on my drafts were bright colours because I wanted people to be able to read the titles  and headings on my cover.

Content page drafts that i have made better



These are the first drafts Imade for my content page, I have improve them  to my other drafts. I improved my drafts  by putting my photographs that are took from my photo shoot on to the drafts.  I created these contents pages very simple  by using publisher. I used wordart to create the headings that I needed for my drafted.

My contents page




Here is my content page for my magazine!
With my contents page I tried to make it as interesing as possible because I wanted to attracted the target audience  in straighter away.  Used bright and bold colours because I want the contents page to attracted the view starighter way. the photographs on my contents page are not straighted because I decided Iwanted the photo's to be at different angles. I want to create a contents page that was different from my front cover in the way i placed my photographs. My contents page contains the information that people need to know about when look at a contents page.  I tried to make the contents page as interesing as I possible could. I used my final drafts to create the contents page that I wanted to create.

Here  is the front cover for my magazine!
 For my front cover of my student magazine I decided to use two main phoographs as background because I want the person who is looking at the front cover to be drawn in by the two photographs.  I also decided to use two photographs because I wanted  to do something that was different from all the magazine that are out at the moment.  I also decided that the writting on my front cover needs to be bold because people need  to be able to read the writting that is on my magazine. I wanted the magazine to catch the eye of the person looking at the magazine. The coverline  on my front cover is big and bold because  I wanted people to be drawn to the cover line. I included the two photographs at the bottom of the page because I wanted people to see the two small pictures of some other students. I included a bold title because I wanted the audience to be able to see the title from a distance.
